Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery

GNMThis is a Diploma level course of 3 years and 6 months. Upon successful completion of this course, Karnataka State Nursing Council will award the Diploma to the students. This course prepares the students for a well rounded exposure to nursing skill and profession. There is a sanctioned capacity of 50 for this course at Universal Education Academy.



Students should have passed the two-year Pre-university examination or its equivalent, and have scored not less than 40% of marks in the optional subjects and should have completed 17 years of age. The upper age limit is 35 years.

BSc Nursing

GNMThis is a degree level course for Students who are serious about pursuing a rewarding career in nursing Profession. This program apart from imparting knowledge and skills in nursing, equips students with administrative and supervisory skills, thus preparing them for administrative positions in health care industry. As a degree level course it opens up better job prospects and promotion opportunities for nursing Students.



  1. Passed the two year Pre-University examination or equivalent as recognized by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, with science subjects, Viz, Physics, Chemistry and Biology and English.

  2. Obtained at least forty-five percent of the total marks in science subjects and English of the qualifying examination. If belonging to a scheduled or a scheduled tribe, should have obtained not less than forty percent of the total marks in science subjects and English of the qualifying examination.

  3. Students of Vocational Courses: 10+2 vocational course of State Government of Kerala with 5 subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English in addition to vocational subjects conducted is considered equivalent to +2 Examination/Karnataka Pre-University course form the academic year 2005-06 and onwards.

Post Certificate B.Sc. Nursing

GNMThis program of study is for registered nurses holding certificate in General and midwifery and leads to a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. The course of Study is for 2 years. It is a broad leased education aimed to build upon the skills and compentencies acquired at the diploma nursing level.



  1. Hold a diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM).
  2. Be a registered Nurse.
  3. Not above 48 yrs of age of the admission year.

M.Sc. Nursing

GNMThe M.Sc. Nursing program which is of two years duration leading to a Master’s degree in Nursing by the Rajiv Gandhi University of health Science is designed to enable the nursing graduates to acquire greater knowledge and understanding in order to function efficiently and effectively as clinicians, educators and manager, and to assume professional leadership.




  1. Candidate should be a citizen of India.

  2. Candidate should have passed B.Sc Nursing (Basic) or B.Sc. Hons. Nursing or Post Basic B.Sc. in Nursing degree or Post Certificate B.Sc Nursing with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka (RGUHS), or any other University accepted as equivalent by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka. SC/ST candidates should have a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination.

  3. Candidate should have a minimum one year of work experience after obtaining B.Sc. Nursing (Basic), in a hospital or in Nursing educational institution or in community health setting. For candidates with Post Basic B.Sc. in Nursing degree, no such work experience is required after graduation.

  4. Candidate should have registered in State Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife.

  5. Shall be a registered nurse and registered midwife for admission to branches: I Medical Surgical Nursing II Community Health Nursing III Pediatric Nursing IV Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing V Psychiatric Nursing.

  6. The Candidate should not have attained the age of 45 years on the last date fixed for submission of application to PG Degree Entrance Test.
